First Universalist Church of Minneapolis

Projects Included:

• Kindergarten Readiness–  Collected 45 games, 8 puzzles, and 145 books for immigrant and low income families in Hopkins.
• Hats for the Homeless - 36 knitters logged 136 hours at Steven Be's. They entertained each other with lunch and a fashion show, while packing the store to capacity!
• Voting Right Coalition logged 35 hours in training volunteers to fight Voter ID
• Service Works logged 255 hours from 111 people of ages 2 to 50+. They made 70 birthday gifts and card, 30 shamrock favors and over 100 St Patrick's Day bookmarks
• The Marriage Equality Video project captured 13 sessions, with 30 participants talking about their marriage and what it means to them
• The Habitat crew logged 268 hrs with 40 Participants aged 16-74, and nearly finished the townhomes they've been working on for almost a year
• The AUW delivered a carload of coats and boots to Ascension place
• Philadelphia Farm- Volunteers logged 140 hours. Everybody had their share of manual labor, and one family had the unique pleasure of cleaning out a chicken coop.
• The Marriage Equality Phone bank logged 63 hours and are planning another training.

Other projects included work making fishing lures for the National Parks Service, a book drive for LDA Minnesota, seed sorting for Gardening Matters, painting and cleanup of First Universalist church, and more!

As we say in church, "Love is the spirit of this church and service is its law!" For the Day of Service, we were truly living out our values in the real world. We hope to see you all again next year.
