For Book Lovers
If you like books, there are three good ways to make connections at First Universalist Church.
1) UU Friday Book Club meets at noon on the second Friday of each month at an outside location, with potluck lunch. In September they choose books for the coming year, with a balance of fiction and non-fiction, new books and classics, perhaps including poetry or a play reading. It is a daytime activity, with attendance usually consisting of about 20 people who enjoy a "good read" and a great lunch. Contact: jimjanchandler@aol.com, 952-831-3765.
2) The Library Committee is responsible for managing the church library collection and catalog, and making them accessible to church members. It staffs the library on Sundays. Meetings are 7pm on the third Tuesday of the month in the church library, and open to all. They select new books, prepare them for the collection and discuss library issues. Computer skills not required, but helpful. Contact: cheryland94@gmail.com, 612-216-1361.
3) Women Who Read meets in homes on the fourth Monday of the month at 6:30pm. And, as another option, on the third Thursday at 1pm at the church library. The evening group discusses a wide range of books written by women, gathered over a potluck meal. All women are welcome. Contact: Marion Bauer, mdanebauer@aol.com, 651-340-7120.
