150+ years of history
History Hounds is a group of congregants who capture, preserve and tell the stories of First Universalist Church to newcomers, website visitors and fellow congregants. Help us tell our stories, in video, print or photo form. We are open to all who share an interest in exploring and sharing our messages in multimedia ways.
Currently we are particularly looking for additional team members interested in shooting and editing video, including youth, and people interested in helping us create a database of our resources. We can offer training for those who want to learn as we grow. Contact: Mikki@firstuniv.org
Here are some of the projects we've completed:
- Creating a 13-minute introduction to our congregation for our Leap of Faith mentors at All Souls NYC
- Photobook about Day of Service, Habitat for Humanity, religious education and social justice
- Sermon excerpts and photobook about Minister Emeritus John Cummins
- Developing content about our history for this website
- Filming Day of Service projects and editing into a 10-minute video
- Producing the 150th anniversary book about our congregation
- Producing the 150th anniversary DVD about who we are as a congregation
Coming up:
- video clips for this website on a variety of topics
- oral interviews with long-time members of the church
- database entry of our historical record of sermons and images
