Courageous Conversations - January 2013

What is a courageous conversation? Is it telling an uncomfortable truth? Is it listening with humility as someone expresses their hurt? When should we head directly into the fray, and when should we go sideways, “tell all the truth but tell it slant,” as Emily Dickinson suggests?  This month we will explore courageous conversations, archetypal stories of wounding and blessing, and cultural conversations that deserve our courageous inquiry. We will explore what kind of spiritual muscles we need to exercise in order to engender conversations that are real and vital to building true community.
