Heritage Circle
During Sunday morning services you might have noticed that some of our members’ name tags are silver rather than white and blue, and you might have wondered why this difference exists. Silver name tags are one way of recognizing those among our congregants who make up the Heritage Circle, a group of people who have made it known that they have included the church in their estate plans or wills.
When asked why they chose to include the church in their financial plans, Heritage Circle members expressed some consistent themes, notably their desire to participate in the long term continuation of:
- Our sense of community, which can be depended on in difficult times
- Our commitment to social justice
- Our challenge to individual and spiritual growth
The Planned Giving Committee invites you to consider including a gift to the church as part of your estate planning. These gifts will help support the long-term financial stability of the church and ensure the preservation of our values for “times we shall never see”.
There are many ways to make Planned Gifts, and you can find help in evaluating alternatives from your attorney, accountant, insurance agent, estate planner or banker. Brochures about Planned Giving at First Universalist are available in the church office or at the Hub in the social hall.
If you have already included the church in your estate plans, please let us know so you can be recognized as a Heritage Circle member and invited to Heritage Circle events, including a recognition luncheon in June.
