Small Groups
We started another session of Small Groups in late January, when groups of 8-10 people meet every other week to explore content related to sermons, spirituality, and UU theology, by talking about our own life experiences. It is a deeply satisfying way to expand connections to other church members, and to your own spirituality. Groups will meet from the end of January until mid-May. New this winter: specialty groups, including for men, newcomers to First Universalist, parents of young children, parents of teenagers, people suffering with depression, and more.

The Small Group experience is different from other small groups at First Universalist. It is a sacred space in which the same group meets every other week, for about 90 minutes, to explore content related to sermons, spirituality and UU theology, by telling our own stories and sharing life experiences in a particular format and time frame. It is a deeply satisfying way to expand your connections to other church members and to your own religious impulse. (It is not a forum for debate or a therapy group.) Childcare can be available at no cost, with advance notice. Choose a session that works for your schedule: weekday or weekend, day or evening.
"Unlike serving on a committee or attending a social function, you talk more deeply and get to know a few people much better than you would otherwise. It's refreshing that we aren't there to come to a consensus, but to simply share our experience and make connections."
"There is precious little time these days for meaningful conversation, and even though the commitment of six nights over several months was difficult to maintain, the new shoots now developed are invaluable. We are eight newly visible connections in the web."
