What is the Transition Team?

The Transition Team was formed as an ad hoc committee of the Board of Trustees in August 2007 to help the congregation and the Interim Minister, Rev. Charlotte Cotwan, navigate the two-year interim period so that First Universalist Church will be well-prepared when our next settled minister is selected.

Being well prepared involves following tasks that First Universalist Church, or any congregation going through a ministerial transition, must address:

assist the congregation is claiming and honoring its past and in healing its griefs and conflicts;
guide the congregation in a renewal of its vision and to strengthen its stewardship.
illuminate the congregation’s unique identity, its strengths, its needs, and its challenges,
clarify the multiple dimensions of leadership, both ordained and lay, and aid the congregation in navigating the shifts in leadership that accompany times of transition;
Renewing linkages with the wider UU movement
Committing to new directions in ministry

Our team’s members are: Chris Bremer, Laura Cooper, Andrea Johnson, Carol Johnson, Lucy Swift, Paige Winebarger, and Bill Elwood. Sue Schiess (ex-officio) acts as liaison to the Board of Trustees.
